What material to choose for the construction of walls

During the true variety of building materials in the market, regarding the democracy of prices, it is very difficult to choose something unambiguously suitable. There are really a lot of materials, work technologies are no less, therefore, an inexperienced customer, as a rule, is lost in all this diversity for a long period of time before making the final choice. One of the most common materials for construction is brick. Its advantages have long been known: fire resistance, strength, lack of tendency to rot, the impossibility of establishing insects, etc.

In addition, the brick gives some freedom of architectural solutions, since its small size makes it possible for architects and builders to take into account even the smallest details.

Nevertheless, it is noted that cottages are rarely erected from brick. Why? This is due to the property of brick to accumulate moisture. If the house is not used for a long time (namely, this is what happens with country houses in the suburbs), then it accumulates moisture, which leads to dampness in the house as a whole.

A common method of brick construction is the combination of its concrete. In theory, concrete differs little from brick in characteristics and has almost all the same advantages. However, its heat capacity is inferior to the heat capacity of the brick, so in winter the inhabitants of the house will likely feel the cold of the winter period. In terms of fast heating of the house, of course, the most acceptable options are wooden walls. The construction of the walls with the help of concrete has another drawback – in the case of subsidence in the walls, cracks are formed, which, however, can easily be masked by a special solution of cement. Well, concrete no less brick absorbs moisture, which also increases the risk of dampness in the house.
