Conditions for the correct installation of an electric meter

You can perform the installation of electric meters yourself, but for this it is necessary to have some knowledge and skills. They need to be placed in places where there will be constant access for timely maintenance. It is important that the electric meter is not placed in an aggressive or humid environment, since in this case the indicators can occur.

However, if there is a need to install instruments on the street or in an environment where moisture can get on them, then you need to mount them in special protective cabinets along with special heaters. You can fix the electric meter on a plastic or wood shield, as well as metal. The height at which it should be fixed should not be less than 0.8 m and more than 1.7 m.

Any counter is located in the closet, which should be securely closed and have a special window in which the dial will be visible. Thanks to this, the device is reliably protected from damage and pollution. The design of the panel should be designed to have always access to current transformers, as well as to clamps of counters.

The presence of soldering in the electrical wiring is not allowed, and there should also be a certain cross section of cables and various wires that join the counter. In order for the installation of meters and their replacement to be safe, it is necessary to have the possibility of a complete shutdown of the device with a special switching device or conventional fuses. And they should be located at a distance of no more than 10 meters. Only after installing switching devices can meters be attached to the voltage using current transformers.
