How to put tiles on the floor

by eco-economic

Floor tiles are one of the most beautiful and at the same time expensive flooring. If you properly put the tile on the floor surface, then such a floor will look very beautiful and rich. However, if you put the tiles on the floor crookedly (seams of different sizes, tiles are not at the same level, etc.D.), then in this case you just spoil the whole view and just just throw the money on. Therefore, laying floor tiles should be approached quite responsibly and wisely, having thought out in advance. This work is quite complicated, it is not linoleum to lay on the floor.

How to put tiles on the floor. From the tools you will need:

A tooth spatula with a tooth size is 8mm, you can 10 mm if the floor is quite a curve;

An ordinary small lobe spatula to apply a solution;

Spirit level;

Tile cutting to cut the tiles;

Drill plus a mixer (nozzle for a drill);

Container for the solution;

Sponge;

Vetosh.

From the materials you will need:

Glue-cement for tiles. In principle, how many bags it will not be left to say for sure, but approximately 1 bag of glue takes 5-6 squares of floor tiles;

Plastic crosses for stitches tiles. They are inexpensive, so you can safely take a couple of packages if the area of the floor is more than 8 square meters.m;

Well, the floor tile itself.

The procedure for performing work

The first thing to do is to check the floor surface and find out how much it is a curve. If the floor has large differences, pits and hillocks, then it is better to level it. Moreover, it is better to level the floor for the tile with a cement-sand screed. About how to do this I already wrote in the article “How to make a floor screed”.

If the floors of the floor are less than one centimeter, then the screed can not be done, in principle, but simply equalize everything due to glue-cement in the process of laying tiles. But not everyone will cope with this, it will be much easier for beginners to put the tile on a perfectly even floor.

And so, after they prepared the surface for work, that is, they removed the old flooring, grin and leveled, you can proceed directly to the very process of laying tiles.

First we dilute the glue-cement, which is in our form of a dry mixture, water. First, pour water into the container, only after that we fill the glue and stir with a drill with a special mixer nozzle.

After the solution has been stirred, let it brew for about 5 minutes and proceed directly to the process itself.

I would advise you to glue the tiles from the most prominent corner and it is from there to start with a whole tile. If you want everything to be symmetrically, you can start with the center of the room. In order to find the center, it is necessary to connect the middle of parallel walls with two mutually perpendicular lines.

You need to spread either the surface of the floor or the surface of the tile, if the floor is even, then spread it, begin to spread a small area sufficient for gluing only a few tiles.

Affect the solution with a gear spatula, holding it at an angle of 90 degrees to the surface.

Attach the first tile to the smeared surface and slightly press it so that it sticks to the solution:

Check the horizontalness of the tiles glued by you using an alcohol level:

Similarly, put the following tiles and check the horizontality of both tiles already. See that they lie in the same plane.

So that the seams are the same, use plastic crosses, insert them after each laid tile. If possible, immediately wipe the tiles from the remains of the glue, so as not to wash the already dried solution.

As soon as you finish glue the whole tile, you can start gluing pieces, I usually do this the very next day. Remove each piece of tiles thoroughly. Read “Cutting of ceramic tiles”

After a day, you can already walk on the glowing floor, so pull the crosses and clean the seams from the glue with a knife, it is also advisable to wipe the floor well with a damp cloth.
