The choice of paint should be carried out strictly for its intended purpose. Many manufacturers produce special paints for ceilings and walls. These colors are characterized by dullness, roughness, stability. The surface painted with such paint is easily washed, is very resistant to abrasion. Special paint for ceilings can be covered with ceilings in those rooms where constant cleaning is not required – in the living room or bedroom. For wet rooms, special paint is also produced.
The real procedure is the repainting of water -dispersion wall paint, painted with oil paint. However, this requires a surface painted with an old paint, washed with a solution of soda or a weak ammonia solution, in other words, degrease, and then wipe it with an abrasive sponge. After that you can paint.
After leveling or putting the surface, the surface should be primed. You can also check the surface with a powerful lamp to make sure there are no cracks and clogs.
How to paint the ceiling?
For painting the ceiling, a roller with a fur fur coat, a brush, a container for paint and squeeze the roller, a drill with a nozzle, a bucket and gloves are required.
It is necessary to paint the ceiling in three layers. The first layer, as a rule, is applied with a paint diluted with water. Then you need to pour paint into a bucket. When adding water, using a drill with a nozzle, you need to bring the paint to the consistency of milk. If the paint is thick, then when it dries, more saturated places of joints of staining strips may appear. You need to wait for the foam to settle.
The approximate consumption of water -based paint for the ceiling with an area of 16 m² is 3 – 3.5 liters.
More expensive paints are usually much thicker and create a layer more dense.
In order not to damage the angle or frieze with the edge of the roller, you should first paint the ceiling with a brush 30-50 mm from the corner. If the friez is painted in the same color as the ceiling, it is convenient to paint the desired width with the ceiling with a brush of the desired width or immediately after its coloring.
Need to paint with a slight overlap in stripes. The following layers must be applied with strips perpendicular to the stripes of the previous layer – in a checkerboard pattern. The roller should be squeezed in the bath and roll out the whole. For a more convex layer, the roller is squeezed worse and does not roll too well. The room should be well lit, since unpainted areas may remain.
After the primer layer dries, it is necessary to bring the darkest spots with soft movements with the help of the roller perpendicular to the window. After drying them, the final painting of the ceiling should be made, adhering to the above recommendations.
The drying period of each layer is approximately 5 hours.
