Marble plaster today has occupied one of the leading positions in the decoration of residential premises. If you think that this type of wall decoration is a novelty, then this is not so. It was used in ancient times. For the most part in the eastern states, she had the most popularity. And this is natural, because marble plaster perfectly imitates natural stone.
The word “plaster” itself can be a little misleading – this method of wall processing is not preparatory. After finishing the walls do not require subsequent processing. This is the last stage. The surface becomes truly marble. This type of decoration of the premises can be an excellent alternative to wallpaper, ceramic tiles, finishing panels.
Let’s figure out what this material is. Marble plaster is a decorative coating, which includes acrylic copolymers, granite-mram crumbs, dyes. The advantages include:
– high durability, fortress, resistance to destruction, frost resistance
– Natural components in the composition. And environmental cleanliness, today, has a very large weight in the huge selection of modern finishing materials
– convenience in everyday care. Such a plaster is easy to wash and wipe
– water -repellent properties, resistance to high temperatures
– Marble plaster does not burn out in the sun and is resistant to alkalis and acids
– rich color palette and variety of textures
Such a large list of positive properties makes it possible to use marble for external decoration, and not exclusively for the internal.
Since she has so many advantages, then why not try to apply marble plaster with your own hands. For independent work, you will need some tools, they are easy to find in any department for construction and repair, and of course the material itself. The mixture is prepared very simply, you will find the whole cooking process on the package itself. You will also need: trowel, flat brush, steel grater.
Before applying marble plaster with your own hands, it is necessary to prepare the surface. It should be even, without dust, sand, traces of mold, cracks and chips. Previously, the walls are primed and are waiting for complete drying.
Preparatory work is completed, we move on to the decoration itself. Apply plaster with a thin layer and as uniformly as possible. Then the surface is wiped with a steel grater, this must be done within half an hour after you apply the plaster. Thus, subsequent layers are applied, which can be no more than 10, usually. The last layer is treated with fine -grained sandpaper, but only after completely dry. It is necessary to dry the surface at a temperature of approximately 20 degrees, but not lower than +5 and moisture 60-70%. This process will take a day or two, depending on the conditions.
Do -it -yourself marble plaster, of course, requires some minimal skills in working with the material. But believe me, in the process of work it is quite possible to master. If you see that color spots appear and the result is not pleasing – this is easy to fix. So, the layer of plaster was applied unevenly, the subsequent application can be corrected.
