Elon Musk’s Neuralink to tackle telepathy

by marusia

The American company Neuralink has patented trademarks related to telepathy and telekinesis. This was noted by the Forbes publication.

A patent for the registration of the Telepathy and Telekinesis trademarks appeared in the database of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on March 3. According to media journalists, the company of billionaire Elon Musk has clearly hinted that they will develop these areas in their business.

Forbes journalists noted that under American law, a company cannot simply secure any trademark for itself – it must have a “good faith intention” to use it. They also recalled that in a conversation with podcaster Lex Friedman in August 2024, Musk said that a certain “telepathic” Neuralink device would help people with paralysis.

Trademark attorney Josh Gerben suggested that Musk’s company would have to deal with privacy, security, and ethics issues before such a product could be implemented as a real device. For example, it is not known whether one user with a “telepathic” implant would be able to read the thoughts of another and how they would be transmitted between the two implants.

In January, Elon Musk’s startup Neuralink showed a chipped patient controlling a robot arm with his mind. Neuralink did not reveal the author of the inscription, but hinted that it was one of three people chipped by the company.
